"The Flower" was bought by Dr. Sheila Marie Acosta at the launch for P6,000. The four-in-one painting was the exhibit's center of attraction.
The hearing and the Deaf communities gathered yesterday at the Hear My Heart launch at Transwing Art Gallery, West Avenue to enjoy themselves with paintings and Kontemporaryong Gamelan Pilipino music.
In their effort to help the Talking Hands (TH) Deaf youth raise money to further their education, the UP Volunteers for Children (UPVC), in partnership with Talking Hands, Art Hub Manila, and When in Manila, had set up an exhibit of the TH Deaf youth’s masterpieces to show their love for art to the public.
Jasmine De Luna, founder of Art Hub Manila said she admired the TH Deaf for their boldness and unlimited potential. She said “Their artworks possess very extraordinary art aesthetics which no average teenager’s has.”
The TH Deaf learned painting from a four-day workshop in Art Hub Manila under the supervision of Teacher Jazz who believes she has learned from them more than they did from her.
Cats, fruits, and landscapes canvas paintings grace the gallery walls of Transwing. Each bear unique designs and styles where one can draw various interpretations from.

Favorites of UPVC member, Sean Camara were the "Starry Night", "Old Tree with White Leaf", and "Color Tree" in which he admires the use of color contrast. He was able to interact with the Deaf youth during the workshop and shares he appreciated them more when they communicated through paper and pen.
The TH Deaf have participated in several auctions and are believed to improve through time. They have sold artworks different social events. One of which was bought by Asia’s Songbird and actress, Regine Velasquez.
Paintings which have not been sold in the event are still in auction, waiting for their new owners, at Transwing Art Gallery along West Avenue, Quezon City.
With your donation, not only do you receive a valuable work of art, but you also get to help the people behind this event raise funds for the children’s Science, Technology, English and Math (STEM) and Art classes.
Present in the event was speaker Dr. Raul Destura, who believes that children "are good with spreading awareness" that’s why he brought his children to the launch.
The art gallery is good for all ages. With an entrance fee of P50, you can enjoy art and be able to hear the heart of our silent yet amazingly expressive youth through their masterpieces.
