Trending: Nachos Ala Bomba, Yay or Nay?

We went straight to The Food Hive to try out La Carnita’s Nachos ala Bomba (P195), after getting refreshments from Moonleaf, Congressional Ave. (the Jasmine Milk Tea was nice, btw).
You wouldn’t believe how crowded it is in The Food Hive on weekdays. I came there on a Monday night with my friends to look for an after-dinner snack and no seats were available until after 30 minutes. Also, you can’t enter the place with outside food or drinks. Sucks right? So we had to finish half or our milkteas or else, no cheesy treat for us.
Anyway, I first learned about the nacho hype on Facebook. It had a huge number of engagements, and like me, almost everybody I know are sharing it. Who wouldn’t? Just look at it! I knew I had to try it asap.
Ordering the Nachos ala Bomba is hard, though. We got there at about 9 PM and they said they almost ran out of ingredients! We waited for 10 minutes until they recount their inventory and I literally had to stand in front of the stall to make sure I get the first one. When I got my order, there were just about nine orders left and there were about 15 people still falling in line.
Like what you see on the video, the sauce was tastefully cooked in a grill pan full of Cilantro sauce, Mexican beef, and a combination of cheese sauce, cheddar shreds and mozzarella strings. Like mine, your mouth will probably water as you watch them pour that lava of cheesy goodness into your nacho chips.

The minute the nachos was laid on the table, hands were everywhere. Everyone enjoyed it with its 3 dips: salsa, spicy garlic and sour cream. It was true when the ads said it was reaaally cheesy. The first bites were the most splendid, I swear, my mouth is actually watering as I write this blog.
We noticed, however, that as the cheese cools down, the lava-like cheese sauce becomes more like a stretchable coating which makes it hard to dip the thin nachos (which I like) in. You can still finish it with a fork, though.
Also, I don’t have a problem with it being too cheesy as long as it’s as equally rich as the cilantro sauce and meat but as we dug the mid-way, we just saw more cheese which probably gave us that umay in the end. To me though, it’s the kind of umay that tells you P195 for overflowing nacho cheese was worth it.
Takeaway
All in all, I think the Nacho ala Bomba is a must-try. It can be shared by four friends or a really hungry person. If you’re a cheese lover like me, you’ll love this little tray of happiness.
Verdict
